Vital Technology specifies and designs control systems for national & international government agencies, public sector services and blue chip organisations. Cutting edge hardware/software technology is deployed to meet specific user requirements. Our turnkey solutions provide installation and termination of cables, point to point and I/O tests, interface functionality to plant equipment/sub-systems and commissioning of Control Panels, PLC hardware & software, SCADA hardware & software.
Vital Technology has the necessary knowledge and experience to design and install all types of dynamic traffic control, whether permanent or reversible, enabling optimum use of available lanes and an easy answer wherever rush-hour tidal flow systems are needed.
The result of recent studies, combined with technical advances in light-emitting technology, has enabled Vital to offer clients a range of signage and aids for the evacuation of stations and tunnels, especially within smoke-filled emergency or other impaired visibility situations.
The system is formed of three elements. A row of ‘chaser’ light-emitting diodes of appropriate intensity, sequential timing and colour indicating a safe public escape route; the point of exit being highlighted with a high-intensity strobe light and specially-designed audible beacon for enhanced location in dense smoke.
Vital Technology installs emergency telephone/help point systems in tunnels, on station platforms and within commercial environments. Utilising the latest IP technology these systems are mapped to the operators or local agency responsible for emergencies.
The specification standards for escape, including emergency exits, lighting and signage have dramatically increased over the years. Vital Technology's specialist knowledge of integrated and automatic emergency systems ensures that all up-graded installations are fully compliant.
Automatic fire and CO detection is essential in tunnels, terminals and stations. Vital Technology has the expertise to cover these and the provision of fire suppression and detection systems to the highest safety standards at the point of need.
Working in closely with a number of world leading communication organisations Vital Technology designs and installs networks for the delivery of wireless broadband technology to the transient or stationary user.
Diverse in implementing multiple communication systems, including WiFi, WiMax, BTS Nano, 3G and 2G cell site design and build. The in-house team undertakes all aspects of a project up to and including Site acquisition, H&S, Surveys, Commission, Support, Maintenance and Upgrades.
Long-term reliability and speech audibility is considered paramount in all systems for the rapid evacuation of buildings and tunnels during incidents and emergencies. Vital Technology Audio-engineering includes the provision of both recorded and direct-address public announcements with installations specifically designed to aid clarity and avoid reflections.
Today's passenger information systems are the key communications link between transportation operators and the travelling public. Along with system reliability, safety, and general appearance, the ability for operators to provide accurate, current information on arrival and departure times and gates—information the traveller needs to keep moving efficiently— is a key component of customer satisfaction.
Vital Technology installs passenger information systems for railway, airport and road operators from site monitors to the networks and databases which support the information transfers.
A central point of focus for control systems operators to facilitate informed decisions from the stream of data from each sub-section. The SCADA System fulfils this need with logically-arranged graphic overviews which can be progressively interrogated, layer-by-layer.
Vital Technology designs and builds bespoke SCADA systems for clients in the utilities, transport, oil & cas, chemical, energy, industrial sectors.

The Softstop solution was developed from Laservision’s Government-endorsed Research & Development facilities. The emergency response system was primarily designed for vehicle tunnels. It encompasses:
Ø Safety, (prevention of vehicles entering a dangerous environment), and Infrastructure protection
Ø A specialist hydraulic mix from considerable experience in water screens, spanning three decades of hydraulic engineering solutions
Ø Technical obstacles included but not limited to: correct air mix ratio on a variable basis
Ø Critical pressure levels to drive against distortion from wind currents
Ø Rapid start techniques ie under three seconds
Ø Hydraulic efficiencies in terms of flow rates and demand and catch supplies technologies
Ø Recycled or limited waste techniques for resource sensitive environments
Ø Critical screen thickness for effective projection avoiding parallax error distortion
Ø Rapid response interlocked projection technologies to compete with opaque surface and daytime usage
Ø Integration technologies to interlock with other safety devices
Ø Monitor loop backs of key data areas to monitor
Additionally a myriad of other failsafe and pre emptive strategies make Softstop a highly effective rapid response barrier system. Unlike conventional warning lights, signals or signs that appear in the peripheral vision of drivers, the Softstop Barrier System is the only visual messaging system that appears in the direct view of drivers (making it impossible to miss). Vital is the UK OEM for Softstop
Vital offers adaptable supply and installation of hi-intensity LED and VMS rotating sign installations for maximum clarity and flexibility, particularly where concise information is needed for motorists using motorways, bridges, tunnels, and city centre approaches.
Vital Technology has designed and deployed HotSpots throughout the UK for some of the leading telecomms companies.
Wifi provides businesses and the general public with essential access to wireless broadband technology on the move. Installed to industry protocols, Vital’s services include:
- RF Surveying
- RF Design
- Equipment Install and Commission
- Account Management
- Network Support/Help
Vital is working closely with national mobile operators to deliver WiMax and Wifi solutions on major UK train routes. Vital Technology enlisted sister company Vital Rail’s capability and understanding of Network Rail's procedures and safety policies to install both public access (HotSpot) and safety critical (UGMS) networks throughout the rail infrastructure.
Vital provides a wide range of services to support new and existing technology product sets within the mobile and wireless network arena. Services cover initial site surveys, Los, network design, installation, commissioning and integration through to maintenance and optimisation.
Vital is experienced in the delivery of 2G &3G, PCN, radio links, microwave, GSM, UMTS, TETRA, BTS, LTE, WMAX ,WFI, and wireless mesh, point to point and point to multi-point network solutions.
